Public transport in Kerala is set to get dearer with the cabinet on Tuesday giving green signal to hike in fares of state-run and private buses, autos and taxis following increased diesel prices.
The passengers travelling on buses will now have to pay Rs 6 as minimum fare. The concessional charges for students have also been raised. The minimum fare for students has increased by 1 Re. Commuters will have to shell out more for travelling in taxi and auto-rickshaw.Autos from Rs 12 to Rs 15 and that of taxi from Rs 60 to 100. The bus fare was last hiked on August 8, 2011.Fast Passenger increased from 7 to 8, Super Fast 10 to 12 ,Super Express 15 to 17.
