OMMAN CHADI PLAY COMMUNAL POLITICS IN KERALA

In a bid to counter the criticism that the UDF government was run by minority ministers, Kerala CM Oommen Chandy has handed over the Home portfolio to Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, a Hindu Nair. Chandy also reshuffled portfolios of two ministers, both Hindus, to parade them as those handling key departments.
The induction of the fifth IUML minister and reshuffle of portfolios has led to an uproar in the Congress. Former state chief K Muraleedharan was among the Congress leaders who kept away from the swearing-in of IUML’s M Ali and Kerala Congress’s Anoop Jacob on Thursday.

Aryadan Muhammed of the Congress said he did not turn up as his presence may have become a bad omen for the IUML. He was given additional charge of Transport, apparently to silence his attack on the fifth IUML minister. “The UDF government is turning into a confederation of communal forces. Now, we cannot find fault with the BJP government in Gujarat,’’ said a senior leader.
On Thursday, the BJP had observed a black day to protest against a fifth minister from the IUML. ..
